COVID-19 SERVICE UPDATE: REOPENING
Dear Parents,
We are happy to say that on Monday, August 17th SLCD reopened all three locations with reduced enrollment and enhanced health and safety measures. Some examples of changes within each location are as follows: a screening area, staggered starts, reduced operational program hours and physical distancing rules.
The Ministry of Education and Toronto Public Health guidelines have created a new standard for the set up of classrooms, regulations on the frequency of the disinfecting of toys and equipment, suggestions on cohort transitions throughout the day and requirements for the personal protective equipment worn by staff. Physical distancing has become a new phrase in our environment and we are all doing our best to ensure we are practising this as much as possible. Although child care operations are now permitted to operate at full enrollment capacity, guidelines around physical distancing make achieving full enrollment capacity in our programs a very big challenge. We appreciate your patience as you wait for the available spaces.
Sincerely,

Welcome to Our Site
St. Lawrence Co-operative Day Care Incorporated is operated by a Parent Board of Directors, licensed under the Provincial Child Care and Early Years Act. The Day Care has been in operation since 1979 and provides quality child care in three different locations within the St. Lawrence community in Downtown Toronto.
St. Lawrence Co-operative Day Care Incorporated believes children learn through play. Play is the cornerstone where children have the opportunity to actively explore and learn through materials and their environment. Play facilitates the development of the whole child including, social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative abilities.

In order for children’s play to be meaningful, the experiences need to reflect each child’s skills and needs. The Centre is committed to offering a high quality, child centered program that provides for children’s success in learning. St. Lawrence Co-operative Day Care strives to provide quality care for all children, regardless of race, ethnicity, financial situations, gender and family structure. All children are entitled to the same level of service, care and hours of operation.
The program involves children, parents, teachers working together in an anti-bias and integrated environment. This teamwork promotes children’s abilities to resolve conflicts, understand mutual respect, gain independence and build self-esteem. These abilities are also encouraged by teachers modeling and encouraging socially acceptable behaviour where children are supported to self-regulate and develop positive relationships.
The children’s environment is structured with routines and transitions in order to provide consistency and security. This flexibility facilitates decision making and free choice which is incorporated in the program on a daily basis.
