Upon registering your child with St. Lawrence Co-operative Day Care Inc., you will automatically become a member of the Co-operative. SLCD’s by-laws have been established to make all members aware of the organization’s rules. A couple of the by-law articles outline: mandatory attendance for the organization’s Annual General Members Meeting and volunteer hours in the program.
There are many opportunities for families to become involved and volunteer in the organization.
- It is at the Annual General Members Meeting where parents/guardians are provided with the opportunity to be nominated to join the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors ensures:
- Financial viability of the centre budget
- Monitors and establishes fees
- Policy development
- Promotes positive Community relations
- Lobbies community and government agencies
- As a Co-operative, we welcome families to help with various events and to enrich our indoor or outdoor programs. Respective locations will post information details when help is needed. Volunteers’ needs and time commitments may vary and look different throughout the year at each location. Some examples of how our families can participate may include handy-person, music, story-telling, maintenance, political lobbying, volunteering on a community or field trip.
